  • A virus called tulip breaking virus causes feathered patterns on the petals of the flower.
  • There are no truly blue tulips, though some are almost blue, and there are very few truly black tulips.
  • Many varieties of tulips are lost as people may lose interest in a variety, and they don’t always return each year, meaning that eventually they will disappear completely.
