Learning Point

  • The mostly southerly point in Scotland belongs to the area called Wigtownshire, of which there are two main sections: The Machars and The Rhins. The Rhins refers to the double-headed peninsula on the west, and contains the most southern part of Scotland, the Mull of Galloway. The Machars is the peninsula that sits to the east. This part of Scotland has been subject to constant change in language and culture over the time it has been inhabited.
