- During the reign of Akhenaton mention is made to cities in Canaan from before Israel entered the land. This is in harmony with the details in the book of Joshua.
- Later, Merneptah mentions that Israel was laid waste, and while an idle claim, it points to Israel already being in the land of Canaan, setting the date to after 1473 BCE.
- Another pharaoh, Shishak, was one who took from Jerusalem during the reign of Rehoboam.
