Learning Point
- Greece was a powerful and swift world power that quickly replaced the Medo-Persian empire. Within a few short years it had taken control of the entirety of that empire, spared Jerusalem destruction, and reached the edge of India.
- Greece impacted God’s people in that it didn’t enslave them, allowing them to worship Jehovah mostly uninterrupted. It also introduced the Koine Greek language, the language used for most of the Christian Greek Scriptures.

- Alexander the Great defeated the Persian army repeatedly, at times it being 10 or 20 times bigger than the Greek army.
- Alexander also died very young, from malaria, leaving behind a powerful empire.
- The empire was divided among four of his generals: Cassander, Lysimachus, Seleucus Nicator and Ptolemy Lagus.
- The kingdom from Ptolemy was the longest lasting, being conquered by Rome in 30 BCE.
