The prophecy in Daniel Chapter 7 is one of several propehcies in the Bible that help us identify key world powers through history who had an impact on God’s people.
The four beasts help us to identify five different world powers that bring us up to our time.
The first beast represents Babylon, which lost its initial aggresiveness as time progressed.
The second beast represents Medo-Persia, which was strong and focused on expansion in three directions.
The third beast was Greece, which moved with great swiftness before eventually disintegrating into four kingdoms.
The fourth beast was Rome an unsually strong and powerful power that existed for a lot longer that the previous powers. It was never fully conquered, but rather its power moved on to other nations.
The fourth beast also developed a horn that uprooted three others, this represents Britan (later including America) as it uprooted the powers of France, the Netherlands and Spain.
