Key Information

Middle Cavea of the Theatre

Learning Point

  • The middle cavea, or seating section, was the not as steep as the upper cavea. It had a reduced number of staircases that allowed access to the different levels, as well as entrances (paradoses) from the inside of the theatre to a slightly wider central section of the diazoma, or walkway, that existed at the foot of the cavea.

Project

  • Build the middle section of seating (Cavea)
  • Add the stairs that divide up the seating
  • Build the walkway (Diazoma) at the bottom of the cavea
