Learning Point
- Mont Saint-Michel is a cool island in France with a famous abbey built on top of a huge rock. It’s known as a tidal island because when the tide is high, the water from the ocean completely surrounds it, making it look like a floating fortress. At low tide, the water goes out, and people can walk across the sand to get to it. The abbey was built over many hundreds of years, starting with a church built by a bishop who dedicated it to the Archangel Michael. Its special location made it almost impossible for enemies to attack, and it has stood as a symbol of strength for centuries.
