Learning Point

  • Neuschwanstein Castle was a castle built by the king of Bavaria, Ludwig II, who dreamed of creating a castle inspired by the works of the composer Richard Wagner. The castle was never completely finished, and was extremely expensive to build. It replaced two earlier ruined castles, and its design was constant being revised by Ludwig. After the king’s mysterious death, the castle was opened to the public to pay to access it.
