- The Woolly Rhinoceros was another creature we know well from the late prehistoric times. Living in a similar environment to the Woolly Mammoth, it was a giant rhinoceros, covered in a wool-like fur.

Fun Facts
- The name Coelodonta means “hollow tooth” because the teeth of the Woolly Rhinoceros differed from normal rhinoceroses as it had hollow sections in the tooth.
- Both male and female Woolly Rhinoceroses had two horns, made from keratin, the same sort of material our hair is made from.
- Compared to other rhinoceroses, the Woolly Rhinoceros had a longer head and body, and shorter legs.
- The shoulder of the Woolly Rhinoceros was raised and powerful, to help support the massive horn it had on its head.
- The front horn was from 3 ft 3 in to 4 ft 7 in long and weighed up to 33 lb.
