  • Angel Falls is the world’s tallest waterfall. Located in Venezuela, the water falls 3,212 feet into the forest below. It was found in 1933 by Jimmie Angel, and was named after him. The height of the falls can mean some of the water is lost as it evaporates before it reaches the floor.

Fun Facts

  • Jimmie Angel was stuck near the falls when he returned in 1937 because he landed his plane near the top, but wasn’t able to take off again.
  • The falls are a type of plunge waterfall.
  • They fall from a table top mountain, which are often found in this part of Venezuela.
  • The longest drop in the falls is 2,648 feet.
