- Loch Ness is a large freshwater loch in the Scottish Highlands. The lake is the longest in Britian, and is the result of glaciers eroding the Great Glen, a long valley that Loch Ness is part of. It is also the place where the legendary Loch Ness Monster is supposed to live, though no evidence of any large creature has been found in the loch.
