It sits in the <strong>East African Rift<\/strong>, a <strong>large valley<\/strong> that cuts through the eastern half of Africa, creating <strong>many large freshwater lakes<\/strong>, called the <strong>African Great Lakes<\/strong>. It is home to <strong>many unique creatures<\/strong>, and is a fascinating <strong>source of food<\/strong> and <strong>scientific research<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n<h4 Facts<\/h4>\r\n\r\n<div class=\"class-box\">\r\n\t<ul>\n<li>It holds <strong>16% of the world&#8217;s freshwater<\/strong>, and collects water from <strong>89,000 square miles of land<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>More than <strong>90% of the water<\/strong> in the lake comes from <strong>rain water falling on its surface<\/strong>, and it <strong>loses 90<\/strong>% of its water through <strong>evaporation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It is a <strong>very old lake<\/strong>, and some of the <strong>water is old enough<\/strong> that it could be <strong>thousands of years old<\/strong>, and in areas contains <strong>almost no oxygen<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Throughout it&#8217;s history, the <strong>river has changed repeatedly<\/strong>, at times being <strong>several
