the Pacific Ocean in <strong>December 1952<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The Deep Submersible Support Vessel, <strong>DSSV <em>Pressure Drop<\/em><\/strong>, <strong>surveyed <\/strong>the trench as part of the <strong>preparation <\/strong>of the <strong>descent to the deepest point<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Victor Vescovo<\/strong> was the <strong>first person<\/strong> to descend to the bottom of
