It is made from <strong>sandstone<\/strong>, and is one of a number of different <strong>similar features<\/strong> in the nearby area, though it is the most famous. class=\"class-box\">\r\n\t<ul>\n<li>It changes from <strong>red to grey<\/strong> when it is <strong>wet<\/strong>, though this is <strong>not often seen<\/strong> as there is <strong>very little rain<\/strong> in the area.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>redness <\/strong>it has is because the <strong>iron <\/strong>in the rock <strong>has oxidized<\/strong>, otherwise it would be grey.<\/li>\n<li>It was <strong>named after Sir Henry Ayers<\/strong>, though the local <strong>aboriginal people<\/strong> have known it as <strong>Uluru <\/strong>for far longer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Climbing
