Learning Point

  • Nabiyotum Crater is circular crater on the south of Lake Turkana, an alkaline lake in the Kenyan Rift Valley. The volcano is inactive now, but created a near perfect cinder cone. Cinder cones are formed during eruptions of a specific type of volcano. They are loose cinders that form progressively through the eruption, and towards the end of an eruption, the lava seeps under the cinders.
