Fun Facts
- The name Maiasaura comes from Greek words meaning “good mother lizard“, with “saura” being the female form of “saurus”.
- The nests may have been covered in plant material to help keep the eggs warm, as the eggs were too delicate to be sat on.
- Maiasaura juveniles probably walked on their back legs only, while the adults would have walked on all fours.
- Many young Maiasaura might not have survived the first year of their life, but their survival rate would have increased from the second year.
