Learning Point

  • Kenilworth Castle boasts a rich and dramatic history. Originally a Norman stronghold, it transformed into a royal residence and even hosted a legendary King Arthur-inspired event in the 13th century. In the 16th century, the castle entered its most glamorous phase when Robert Dudley renovated it during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. He converted it into a lavish palace, complete with England’s widest roofed hall at the time. Though now a picturesque ruin, Kenilworth Castle continues to capture imaginations.
