Learning Point

  • The Gobi Desert is a massive and fascinating place in Asia, stretching across parts of China and Mongolia. Unlike many other deserts you might imagine, the Gobi isn’t covered in endless sand dunes. Instead, it’s mostly made of rocky land, gravel, and bare soil. It’s also a “cold” desert, with very chilly winters that can bring frost and snow, even though the summers are hot. This desert is famous for being a fantastic place to find dinosaur fossils, and it’s home to some special animals, like the two-humped Bactrian camel.
