- Different jobs or professions had different names in Aztec society, such as a teacher (tlamatini), healer (tizitl), codex writer (tlacuilo), dancer (mitotiani), leader (tlatoque), trader (pochtecatl), farmer (macehualli) and a ball game player (ollanqui).
- Education was something every child was expected to receive, first by being taught by their parents at home, then later to attend schools.
- There were many different levels of society, and the structure became very complicated as the empire grew.
