  • Maletsunyane Falls is a tall waterfall in the country of Lesotho. It is picturesque, and a beautiful example of a horsetail waterfall. Though not the tallest falls in Africa, the drop is dramatic, and a great example of the classic image we have of waterfalls.

Fun Facts

  • The falls cause an echo around the basin at the bottom of the falls.
  • The nearby village of Semonkong is named after the falls because it is a “place of smoke“, referring to the mist that comes from the waterfall.
  • At 630 ft high, it is the tallest waterfall in Lesotho.
