- The source of the Jordan is found around the foot of Mount Hermon.
- Though it is 223 miles long, its meandering course means it covers only 124 miles.
- The land along the Jordan Valley has very little water, but water that drains off land higher up is water contributes to its flow.
- In recent years irrigation completed along the river has diminished how much water enters the Red Sea.
