- Hedgehog are an animal known for their ability to hide away or defend themselves, doing so by rolling into a ball to use the spines covering its body as a defence mechanism.

- It got its name because it lives in the hedgerows of Britain, and has a pig like snout.
- Their spines are made from keretin and are hollow. They don't easily detach from their body, and are not poisonous.
- Hedgehogs have a habit called "anointing" when the lick new scents, pasting them on their spines, perhaps to help camouflage it in that location.
- Although we think of them as insectivores, only eating insects, they in fact eat many things, and can be called omnivorous.
