- There are four main types of thunderstorms: single-cell, multi-cell, squall line (also called multi-cell line) and supercell.
- Single-cell thunderstorms normally last 20 to 30 minutes.
- Thunderstorms result from the rapid upward movement of warm, moist air.
- Without thunderstorms and lightning, the earth-atmosphere electrical balance would disappear in five minutes!
