- The Pantanal is the worlds largeset area of flooded grasslands and tropical wetlands. It is in mostly in Brazil, as well as parts of Bolivia and Paraguay. Many species of plants and animals live there, but very little of it is protected.

- The Pantanal is larger than 29 US states and at least nine European countries.
- More than 2,000 different plants have been found across the Pantanal.
- In late 2020, a quarter of the wetland was destroyed by an unprecedented fire which occurred due to climate change. An area estimated of about 7,681 square miles has been destroyed by the fire.
