Hawai'i

The island of Hawai'i is the biggest of the Hawaiian islands, and home to five volcanoes, of which only one is extinct. The island is still growing, with lava from the active volcanoes adding to its size.

Of the five volcanoes on the island, one is extinct, one is dormant, and the remaining three are active.
There is another extinct volcano to the north west of the island below the sea, and one forming to the south east that hasn't yet reached the surface of the ocean.
The island is located over the current location of the Hawaii hotspot, a volcanic plume below the surface that is the source of the active volcanoes on the island.
The movement of the hospot is seen through the location of the other islands in the chain, and the ridge that is seen below the surface of the Pacific Ocean.
